Get Ready utilizes a systems-level approach that helps it deliver high-impact college and career readiness programming to nearly 47,000 students and families over the seven year grant cycle. Get Ready will serve three cohorts of students (6th, 7th and 8th graders) at their partner middle schools in the first year of the grant, reaching an estimated 6,491 students, and will then expand services to our partner high schools during the second year of the grant when our 8th grade cohort transitions into 9th grade. As the initial 6th grade students head to high school, Get Ready will phase out of the middle school, leaving behind infrastructure to continue an effective college and career-focused school culture for students to thrive in.
A systems-level approach will ensure that Get Ready's college and career readiness efforts are sustainable well beyond Get Ready's involvement in the schools. Get Ready will perform a comprehensive needs assessment to determine the school's level of college and career readiness and access to resources. The results from the assessment will list specific recommendations to create a strong college and career focused school culture. Get Ready will help establish a network alliance (pictured below) at each partner school to create and implement a strategic plan that will be informed by these recommendations. These members are determined using social network theory and processes and will represent parents, school staff, and students. Staff at partner schools will regularly receive training, coaching and support from Get Ready.
